So it seems Hollywood is going to give the He-Man franchise another live action film go-around. And although I was pleasantly surprised by how good of a transition Transformers made from cartoon to the big screen, I’m leery of He-Man. Especially in light of how their first attempt went over with Dolph Lundgren. Early speculation on who could play the part of He-Man mentions Brad Pitt or Gerard Butler. I have a hard time seeing the crazy Brad from 12 Monkeys fitting the role. As for Gerard…as ah, lickable as the man’s abs were in 300, I think I’d need more a little convincing.

Oh, man. It should just Not Be Done. I think some shows just can’t be translated to screen in a way that isn’t just ridiculous and crazy, and He-Man is one of them. Huge robots? Yes. A man who turns into a superhero with a magic sword and fights a muscular purple guy with a bone-face? No.

LOL! Very good point. I can’t see any amount of special effects pulling that one off. And going the route of just having the lead only play He-Man…then what’s the point? And a villain just looking normal and occasionally sporting some type of skeleton mask during a fight (which I *think* is how the other movie went) is just stupid. Now if they were going to do it some kind of computer animation…that would strike me as a little more doable.
